On February 24th, 2022, the world woke up to Russia’s unprovoked attack upon Ukraine, an independent and internationally recognized nation. We all knew Russia is a dictatorship ruled by Vladimir Putin, former KGB officer. Not all of us remembered that Ukraine is a democracy with all the rights that we in American enjoy and expect for a civilized nation. For many older Americans it reminded them of Hitler’s invasion of Poland.
America and many democracies reacted swiftly with condemnation and powerful economic sanctions against Russia and humanitarian and military aid for Ukraine. Many, many Americans have donated funds to various aid groups.
